As the Lore Goes
After searching everywhere, Townes realized the ticket was likely still in the pocket of the suit Blaze was buried in. According to the legend, Townes and a few friends went to the cemetery at night, dug up the casket, and retrieved the ticket from Blaze’s pocket.
Townes took the dirt-covered slip to the pawn shop the next day and finally claimed the guitar. The story remains one of the most famous—and debated—tall tales in country music history.
